Hit your golf ball!
This is a little marketing analogy that I heard today: Marketing is like hitting a golf ball. Sometimes you may hit it right and out in the rough. You didn't fail because you are still progressing down the fairway. You just produced a result you didn't like. You have to know what you could have done to make your shot a little straighter. So just like a golfer, you have to make a little "tweek" to produce a straighter shot!

An inspriational leadership tip
People who don't take risks never discover a new thing. What happens then? They end up having a small zone of comfort. They will lack creativity.

A review on home business application processes
Statistics show that 79 million people in North America plan to start their own business in the next 3-5 years. Many people are looking for a free application process when joining a business. That should be the way to start, right? WRONG!!
Think about this. If you started a very lucrative business and your stating to everyone that your business has a $250,000 first year potential, you're going to have prospects tripping over themselves trying to get "in the door". You want serious people to work with, right? If you allow your application process to be free, how are you going to "weed out the tire kickers" - the ones who just "want to try it out"? (I also recommend reading my article "Weeding out the tire kickers"). Trust me, there will be a lot of tire kickers out there! I was once one myself. You also want quality people to join your business. Isn't it easier to run a business and become the hunted instead of the hunter? You want people to come to you. This makes it easier to concentrate on other things that are important in your business. If there is no application process how can you sort any of your leads? You don't know who's serious or even qualified to work with you.
Businesses that don't offer a application process also tend to label potential prospects as numbers and not a name. Do you want to be a number or a name? Hey, I want to be recognized in the community, wouldn't you? This will also keep away the "get rich quick" and the "lottery ticket" people away. A lot of traditional home businesses accept anyone with a heartbeat.
There are many things that I look for in a prospect for my business. I look for people that are not selfish, that have unrealistic goals (yes, i said unrealistic I'll explain this in another article later, stay tuned), people who give back to their community, take action quickly, and who take the time to invest in themselves toward their own personal development. One more thing, make sure you know that your potential business opportunity takes more interest in your success and prosperity and not their own.

Is there illegal or illegitimate businesses out there?
Of course there are, but not as many as you think. At least 98% of people and businesses that are of accused being a scam are being improperly labeled. There are a few reasons why calling something a scam is a scam.
First of all people “jump the gun” without educating themselves about the products or service. They only see the income opportunity. People don’t take responsibility for the decisions they make. They buy some information or start a business and when it doesn’t work for them they fail and call it a scam. As humans, we are very uncomfortable with emotional “pain”. When we become frustrated and struggle with something, we quit. And why is that? It’s because we feel better getting away from that “pain” and frustration that we experience. These are the people who don’t do the research, don’t follow the instructions, and are under capitalized in their business.
I know this because this was me at one time.
A mentor of mine told me once: “Your frustration can explode like a bomb or be used as rocket fuel.”
They also use the successful person’s traffic to get people to there website. This is a classic move by someone selling something right after they trash a person on there site. Can you believe this is their marketing strategy? I am sure you have all seen this:
Person tells you not to do “business A” because it’s a scam. What they’re really saying is that “I have failed this business and I won’t admit that. I am not going to blame myself only the business.” Here’s that emotional pain this person has experienced.
Then this person proceeds to market their business “B” right after they have just trashed business “A”. How much credibility is this person going to have? Would you like to work with a person like this?
There are a lot of legitimate businesses out there to be had. My advice, if there is a business opportunity that interests you, take a look at it first. Educate yourself about the company, the marketing system, compensation plan and then make a decision for YOURSELF!! Stay ahead of the curve to improve your odds of being successful. Just because someone trashes a business you may be interested in, doesn’t mean it’s not good for YOU. Take the time and contact the person in charge of the potential business opportunity. Most credible businesses will have easy access contact information.
I really hope this has reached out to someone that is researching the right business opportunity for themselves. You can check out the opportunity that I have been having success with at: www.livelikegreg.com
Remember: If you never take any responsibility for your failures then it makes it almost impossible to succeed.
Until next time,
Greg
